The technology and expertise of Helios Genomics was developed by the Genome Canada funded project-  Metagenomics for Greener Production and Extraction of Hydrocarbon Energy. This project was led by world leading petroleum microbiologists in the Petroleum Microbiology Research Group at the University of Calgary.

Chief Executive Officer– Sean Caffrey PhD, MBA

Sean Caffrey holds a PhD in microbial genomics and as the project manager of the  “Metagenomics for Greener Production and Extraction of Hydrocarbon Energy, ” has helped a wide range of oil and gas companies better understand the microbial communities impacting their operations.

President and Vice President of Operations: Colin Coros PhD, MBA

Colin Coros has a broad base of research experience in microbial genetics and has been successful at building the genomics-based service company Delta Genomics, which is currently servicing the genomics needs of the Canadian livestock industry.

Chief Scientific Officer: Lisa Gieg PhD

Lisa Gieg is Helios Genomics’ primary petroleum microbiology expert. Dr. Gieg received a PhD in Microbiology and she is a member of the Petroleum Microbiology Research Group (PMRG) at the University of Calgary. She has published widely on the microbial issues facing the oil and gas sector.
